We were having a very small wedding the end of July. Wanting a small cake, I contracted bakery no. 1 and gave her the information required. When I asked that almond flavoring be added to the white base cake and the buttercream icing, I was told "we use vinilla." I repeated the request at least three times as well as telling here wanted the bridal layer raised. Quote " we stack the layers", again I stated how I wanted the bridal layer raised. We don't do that was the reply. Shocked, I asked why not? Just always layer our wedding cakes..makes them very pretty etc. We weren't speaking the same language. She descided she couldn't make the cake (1 week before the wedding). Called baker No. 2. We spoke the same language, she understood what I wanted and agreed to make the cake..This was to be a 6" bridal layer on a 10" base. Sent her a drawing of the design. Frosting of buttercream became mandatory fondant and the price went up to almost $600. Cancel no. 2. Got ahold of Chrystal, baker no. 3. Explaned the size, the frosting, banner, flowers and RAISED BRIDAL LAYER. Her statement was " I've never raised a layer but if you're willing I am! I brought her gum paste flowers and risers/pillars for the cake. I explained why and how to put it together. She was excited to give it a try and with me there to lend a helping hand she did a beautiful job and ended up with the exact cake my daughter wanted! I give Chrystal ***** for her attitude, ***** for her skill/talent and ***** to cheerfully please her customers. I will mention she is the ONLY BAKER in town that can now raise your cake layers! Your'll love how it improves the apperance on a small cake makeing it look more majestic and eloquent!
